Vintage 2008 - Tempranillo

Vintage 2008 saw a "huge" increase in fruit intake by Quattro Mano over the previous frost and drought – affected 2007 vintage. A total of 5.2 Tonnes of wonderful Tempranillo fruit was picked from the Lyndoch vineyard with a further 1 and 0.4 Tonnes of sensational fruit coming from Angaston and Greenock, respectively. Tempranillo ripens early and all fruit was harvested in February before the highly unusual heatwave which affected the latter part of the vintage. As a consequence, the fruit was received in pristine condition and at perfect ripeness. The wine has great colour and wonderful silky, mineral tannins and is already showing great depth of fruit.

Vintage 2008 - Pinot noir & Mourvédre

Vintage 2008 also saw the expansion of the Quattro Mano stable with a couple of additional small parcels of fruit which included Adelaide Hills Pinot noir and Barossa Valley Mourvédre.

Pinot noir fruit from the three classic clones, Bernard 114, Bernard 115 and MV6 was sourced from a spectacular vineyard high in the Piccadilly Valley which is owned by a great friend and fellow wine traveller. With a North-East facing aspect and an altitude (literally!) of some 700 meters, the fruit from this vineyard shows wonderful varietal characters with great depth of flavour. Destined for a new release called "le DÉFI", we anticipate this to be available sometime in the latter part of 2009. Stay tuned.

The Barossa Valley Mourvédre comes from an old grower near Tanunda. This fruit shows lovely spicy, juicy berries which we hope will form the basis for another new release called "la HADA". Our intention is to release la HADA as a varietal wine – but we will have to wait and see!
